Okay, I'm freakin out...twenty four days before Christmas, and I haven't started marking off my Christmas list. *!* No Christmas decorations grace my fireplace mantel, not one holiday candle or wreath. I did buy a tiny, tiny pink aluminum tree last year at Borders.
So, what HAVE I've been doing? Reading slash fan fiction - a favorite pastime I have to confess to, especially yaoi ff. Right now, I'm hooked on FAKE and From Eroica With Love. I find some of the best fan fiction writers are in the m/m/slash genre. I like to loose myself in my favorite characters for hours (and they don't have to be my own! :o) Okay, so I should be writing my own stuff, especially if I want to get any more stories published - but sometimes, it's nice to take a break and get some perspective on my own characters by reading how other writers handle their character's flaws.
FAKE's Dee and Ryo are on of my favorite pairings. The so cocky arrogant, but softie, Dee and the conservative, urbane, but incredibly smart and handsome Ryo. Hot, hot, hot...and Eroica, well that's the gay, over-the-top beautiful, incredibly competent English art thief paired with the simmering, angry dark German NATO major who can fire a magnum with one hand. When the German gives in, fireworks are sure to follow.
Okay, I haven't been a complete slug. I'm on my 4th round of edits with Last Chance, my first vampire story (to be followed up by a second book I have yet to write). My characters are also total opposites - a very kind and incredibly sexy football jock who loves poetry and wants to be an English Lit professor - who meets up with a very studious, seriously smart Molecular Biology PhD candidate. Ah, but both have a 'little' secret. My serious student is morphing into a vampire, and my incredibly handsome jock is from an ancient lineage of vampire slayers. Born enemies who need each other. This book will be published in February, just in time for Valentine's Day - nice love story, too.
Now, on the other hand, I'm trying desperately to finish Ryan's Harbor (back to Woodland Village, the town in Blue Skye). I'm writing the Black Moment - the scene where both of my hero's lives are about to change...or at least, have the 'great moment of realization'...it involves a tumultuous ocean and storm.
Well back to my laptop, writing and hopefully, moving onward to the next scene.

Rambling today...
I'm on my third edits for my vampire M/M - Last Chance that I'm starting to see crossed-eyed! Of course, right now I'm goofing off watching a movie - Boy's Love, based on a yaoi I read recently. Not sure what came first, the movie or the manga. It's a tragedy - unfortunately - not a romance - with the HEA which I prefer. That's why I write stories with more romance, and feel good ending. That's what I like to read.
Here's a preview of how Aric and Stu meet:

Chapter One
“Hey, look out!”
Aric Christian looked up, but not fast enough.
Boink!
A bullet of pain shot between his eyebrows, and his hands flew to his head. He didn’t catch his fall; instead his body crumpled, his vision blurring, white pages raining down on him. Grumbling under his breath, he found himself on the ground, his ears ringing, and his sunglasses half-twisted off his face.
As his vision cleared, a blond Apollo came into view holding a…football?
“Hey, are you okay?” A broad hand pressed against his forehead.
Aric looked up, ready to complain, but gaped instead, his mouth flapping like a fish tail. He leaned back on his elbows and groaned.
The “god” hovering over him pushed down on his shoulder. “Hey, you better lay there for a sec. You really got pinged.”
Pinged? What kind of word was that?
Yet the guy was even more good-looking up close, and he smelled nice. Blond bangs fringed china blue eyes, and his lashes were made even more golden by the sunlight. Concern was evident in the downturn of his well-shaped mouth. A kind expression that made him seem generous.

Man Oh Man!
Get Ready for Some Daytime TV Man-on-Man Action
Full story: community.livejournal.com
While some soaps are currently facing backlash from viewers over their gay storylines, "One Life to Live" has been quietly continuing on its "journey" of telling the story of Kyle (Brett Claywell) and Oliver's (Scott Evans) relationship. Now, there's word that the ABC soap is going to take this pairing to the next logical destination -- the bedroom.
Interesting! Anyone watch OLL?

New Yaoi Reviews
I have new yaoi reveiws up at my Yaoi Rose site! And, several scheduled to post through out the week. My fingers are numb from writing several reviews...but lately, there's been some good stuff finally being published here in the U.S. I especially like what's coming out of NetComics. I ordered the last volume of Embracing Love (Haru Wo Daiteita) in Japanese. I hope someday there will be a publisher that can obtain the rights to bring Youka Nitta's masterpiece to the U.S. - like DMP is going to do with Kizuna!!! Yeah. A two book omnibus that will have all volumes of the wonderful series by Kazuma Kodaka. Life is looking good! Here's my site: http://www.yaoirose.blogspot.com/ This weekend, I also wrote two new chapters of Ryan's Harbor, but need to get to my round of edits for Last Chance this week. I'll post a snippet of my new vampire series sometime this week. Hope everyone had a great weekend! Viki
